American Roulette or American Wheel – This is a roulette wheel with 38 compartments and numbers from 1 to 36. The wheel has a single zero and a double zero, 00. This means that the casino has a higher advantage in this game.


Ball track – This is the track that runs around the rim of the wheel. The ball that will drop into one of the compartments runs in this track.


Betting systems – You will find betting systems like Martingale and other for roulette. These are meant to help you win by adjusting the amount you bet depending on the result of each game.


Column bet – A bet on one of the three columns on the roulette table.


Corner bet – A bet on four numbers on the roulette table.


Croupier – The person that is in charge of the roulette wheel. You will see this person in live roulette online.


Dozen bet – A bet on three sets with 12 numbers.


En Prison – This means in jail and it is a rule which also goes by the name of Surrender. With En Prison the player will make an outside bet and if the ball should land on the zero the player can lose half of the bet or put the money in prison in order to use it for the next round.


European Roulette – This roulette version has 37 compartments on the wheel and the numbers 1-36. The wheel has one single zero and thereby offers a lower house edge than American Roulette.


Five Number bet – A bet in American Roulette where the player bets on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 edge.


House – This is the advantage that the casino has over the player. It is calculated by looking at the difference between the payout that the casino makes and the true odds.


High bet – A bet on higher numbers, number 19-36.


Inside bet – This is a bet that is placed on the numbers that are inside the boxes seen on the roulette table.

La Partage – This is a rule that is similar to the En Prison rule in that it makes it possible to keep a bet for the following round. Here the player will lose half of the bet and not all of it.


Low bet – A bet on low numbers, numbers 1-8.


Martingale betting system – One of the most common betting systems where the bet is raised when the player loses. Not recommended to use in online casinos.


Orphans or Orphelins – This is a bet on 3 different numbers that are close to each other on the wheel but not next to each other.


Outside bet – Outside bets are black or red, high or low or odd or even and the bet pays even money.


Payout – The money that the casino will pay to the player for winning the game.


Quarter bet – Betting on four numbers.


Red bet – A bet on a number in a red compartment.


Roulette strategy – A strategy for winning on roulette.


Roulette system – The same thing as Roulette betting system.


Six number bet – Betting on six numbers at the same time.


Split bet – A bet on 2 numbers at the same time.


Straight bet – Betting on one single number.


Street bet – A bet on three numbers.
